Opening Day 2025: The Perfect First Pitch
This year’s Opening Day felt like a fitting milestone for Postman Law in Chicago. Myself and my colleague, Emma, joined our friends at ESPN Chicago to soak in the excitement—and the drizzly mid-50s weather.
Pre-Game at Cork & Kerry’s
Meeting Carmen DeFalco and John Jurkovic – AKA Jurko: We started off at Cork & Kerry’s with ESPN Chicago’s pre-game hosts Carmen and Jurko. The bar was filled with that signature South Side buzz, turning a midweek day game into a citywide holiday.
Game Highlights
- Chills for the Anthem: The Star-Spangled Banner, complete with fireworks and a flyover, delivered the Opening Day chills I love so much.
- Ballpark Eats: No first game of the season is complete without a hot dog. I decided to spice mine up with chili originally meant for nachos—because why not?
- Big Win: We dominated with an 8–1 victory. Some Twitter pundits say teams that win their Opening Day by this margin often go all the way. We’ll just say we’re feeling optimistic.
Seeing Our Billboards and Hearing Our Injury Report
On the drive to the stadium, we spotted our newly unveiled Postman Law billboards—marking another big first for our growing presence in Chicago. During the broadcast, we heard the announcers present the “Injury Report brought to you by Postman Law” live on ESPN Chicago radio. It was surreal—and incredibly rewarding—to hear our name in the midst of a game day we’ve loved for so long.
